We can spend a great deal of time trying to keep everyone else together and not realize we’ve fallen apart until it’s too late. The together we think we are is usually an illusion we create to cope, to lie to ourselves about the true state of our lives. Those that we are keeping together are so safe in the care that we give them that they are oblivious, (sometimes purposely) to what we’re going through. Know that you have the right to be selfish with who has access to you. Turn off your phone, find a quiet place to relax, treat yourself to something you’ve deprived yourself of, and say no. Meditate, listen to music, sleep. Do whatever it is you need to do to make sure you are not giving so much of yourself that you lose your way. You can’t help someone else when you need help yourself.
